Adapted from the widely acclaimed book by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women will air as a special presentation from Independent Lens on PBS. This transmedia event will include a four-hour primetime broadcast, divided into two sections on October 1 and 2, from 10 PM to midnight. The film was shot in 10 different countries, and it includes celebrity activists, such as America Ferrara, Diane Lane, and Eva Mendes.
