Report human trafficking with the new Red Light app

From the 2010 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report, it is estimated that only 0.4% of trafficking victims have been identified.  The majority of victims are women and young girls.  Awareness is the first step to take in ultimately eliminating human trafficking from society.  The next step is to take is prevention, and this can be done by reporting potential trafficking cases.

Now, a new iPhone application is available to report cases.  The non-profit Redlight Traffic has created an app to aid in saving victims.   Trafficking victims are often unable to speak up and get the help they need.  The Redlight Traffic app is a discreet, anonymous way for witnesses to make a difference.

When you make a report with the app, Redlight shares the information with local authorities.  This enables police and trained responders to catch the offenders and help the victims.

If you have an iPhone and would like the Redlight app, you can download it by visiting www.redlighttraffic.org/app/.  Here, you can also learn about trafficking indicators, and you can also take the general awareness training offered by the Blue Campaign.

Redlight Traffic is a 501(c)(3) organization based in Seattle, WA.  Redlight uses technology to create tools against human trafficking, provide actionable, real-time reporting to local authorities, educate people and communities, and connect and empower communities and organizations to say “NO” to human trafficking together.
