H.R. 3344, also known as the Fraudulent Overseas Recruitment and Trafficking Elimination Act of 2013 or the FORTE Act, is proposed legislation aimed at cutting down labor trafficking. It is designed to create more transparency in the recruitment of foreign workers, and its passage will mean no more lying in contracts, no more exorbitant fees, and more oversight of labor recruiters and their practices.
Beginning at 6 PM EST on Monday, a panel from Polaris will discuss the legislation’s merits and answer any questions you may have about it. The panelists are Keeli Sorensen, Director of National Programs; Policy Counsel Britanny Vanderhoof; and “Ariel“, a teacher and survivor of labor trafficking.
You can register for the event and propose questions for the panel by going to the following link: http://act.polarisproject.org/p/salsa/event/common/public/?event_KEY=70017.
