USNC-UN Women Walk to End Violence (April 27, Wilmington)

The North Carolina Chapter of US National Committee for UN Women will be hosting its 5th annual Walk to End Violence against Women and Girls on Sunday, April 27.

USNC-UN Women walks are annual events across the country that draw attention to the issue of gender-based violence and highlight UN Women’s programs to stop violence and empower women.  This year’s North Carolina chapter walk is in memory of Yolanda Norwood, a former regional Vice-President for the USNC for UN Women.  Ms. Norwood served on the Board of the Coastal Carolina Chapter of the UNA-USA, and she also organized the previous Walks to End Violence against Women and Girls from 2011 to 2013.

Join the North Carolina Chapter on April 27 at Hugh MacRae Park in Wilmington.  Welcome and opening remarks will happen at 1 PM, and the race will kick off at 1:30.  If you are interested in participating in this event, please visit the North Carolina Chapter’s registration page.  Advance registration is $15 for adults, $10 for children and students, and no fee for walkers younger than 12 (without a T-shirt).  For more information, you can contact Stephanna Tewey at stephanna@myway.com.
