The South Carolina STOP Human Trafficking Meetup Group is holding a free training on the core competencies of trauma-informed care. The training will be held beginning at 8:30 AM on Friday, December 12, at the Laurens City Town Hall in Laurens, SC.
This training will provide a detailed explanation of trauma-informed care for agencies and 0rganizations that serve children, adolescents, and their families. It will provide the model for how everyone can respond to children, adolescents, and families who have encountered traumatic events. The core requirements covered in the training are as followed: communication, criminal justice system/court procedures, ethics and confidentiality, and specialized training.
For more information and to register for this free training, you can download a PDF at the following link: http://childlaw.sc.edu/doc/TIC9 Flyer.pdf. If you work with families and children, this will be a great opportunity to learn procedures about caring for those who have experienced trauma. It will also be helpful in combating the issue of domestic violence, and SC STOP Human Trafficking hopes this and future trainings will create a culture shift in order to ultimately prevent domestic violence and human trafficking within our communities!
